Also scan the walls for ropes suspending heavy objects: a quick slice will drop a pendulum of destructive power for you to abuse for a bit. Ledges are perfect to send enemies tumbling over. Shelves usually have rickety legs that can be kicked out to drop its payload on your victims. The level design often deliberately sets up some physics hazards/tools in certain stock ways. Up close you'll use your mighty boot to give things a quick shove, or you can pick something up (with your hands, or with telekinesis) to knock enemies back or wreak havoc on the environment. Often times the most effective stealth approach will not be to kill silently, but to simply slip by unnoticed, allowing you to continue along your way. The particularly cautious assassin might choose to crawl to make his footsteps nearly silent. Walking won't alert enemies until you're close, but running will get their attention right away. Although they don't deal a lot of damage, they have a much greater chance of knocking an opponent down, which makes them effective for crowd management.ĭaggers These weapons don't have a lot of range, but are generally stronger than staffs. You'll wield them with more twirling and flair than seems effective. These weapons deal the most physical damage, and will probably be the staple for most players that favor the direct approach. They are equipped in one hand and a shield can be equipped in the other for greater blocking ability. Swords Ranging from Short Swords to Cleavers to Axes, all of these weapons behave similarly. If you block right before a blow meets you, you can throw an enemy off guard and quickly attack with a counter strike.Īlthough there are many weapons in Dark Messiah, there are only four basic types: It is sometimes important to aim your blocked stance up or down to meet oncoming blows, especially if you don't have a shield equipped, so practice and know your enemy's attack patterns.
